Tinicum Township – On Saturday, July 6th, a collision on the I-95 left one man dead and another in critical condition.

According to police, a 67-year-old man from Boyertown was driving a 2008 Chrysler 300 around 4:30 a.m. southbound on the right shoulder in Tinicum Township, Delaware County.

As the man was driving the Chrysler, a 26-year-old man from Broomall was driving a 2013 BMW 335i in the left lane on the I-95 southbound. Police say that as the driver of the BMW attempted to turn at a right curve, his vehicle spun out of control. The BMW crossed the southbound lanes towards the right and struck the rear driver side of the Chrysler 300. After striking the Chrysler, the BMW rolled over, ultimately landing on its roof and coming to a stop in a grassy area north of the highway.

The police report that the impact of the BMW caused the Chrysler to veer off the road until it came to a final stop in another grassy area near the highway. The 67-year-old man driving the Chrysler was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The 26-year-old driver of the BMW had to be extricated from his vehicle. He was transported to Crozer-Chester Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition.

Following the accident, only one lane was open on the I-95 southbound at mile marker 10.5 as law enforcement investigated the scene and debris was removed from the highway. All lanes were open by the early afternoon.

There could be a variety of causes for this accident that occurred in the early morning hours of July 6, 2013 on the I-95 southbound. If attorney Thomas J. Murphy were approached by the surviving family members of the Chrysler 300, he would look into determining the cause of the accident. Perhaps drunk driving was a factor, or perhaps the BMW had a defective automobile product that contributed to the accident. Or, perhaps speeding, texting while driving, tired driving, or driver negligence was to blame. Regardless of the cause, attorney Murphy would utilize all of his tools and resources to obtain maximum compensation in this wrongful death case.
